About Dr. Hood
I was inspired to work in healthcare while watching my father undergo treatment for leukemia. It was meaningful to experience the impact that his care team had upon his life and our family and I new that is how I wanted to direct my efforts.
Orthopaedic surgeons and, more specifically, hip and knee reconstruction surgeons care for a wide-variety of patients ranging from young people with congenital hip issues, weekend warriors with debilitating arthritis, and older patients with multiple prior joint replacements that may no longer function adequately. The ability to relieve someone's severe pain and preserve their long term function is incredibly gratifying.
As someone who has previously spent extensive time in health care settings as an employee, patient, family member, student, resident, fellow, and surgeon, I am aware of how daunting our healthcare system can seem. I am committed to providing personalized care for each of my patients such that they are equipped with the information and understanding needed to optimize their long term health and physical function.
My little something extra:
I am a Mississippian by birth and New Orleanian by choice (and marriage). I love my family, New Orleans, our people, our culture, the Saints, and our dog (Sneaker).
